According to a thread of thought, big tech companies collect vast amounts of data on our behavior. Machine-learning algorithms use this data to calculate not just what we will do, but who we are. Today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) can predict what films we will like, what news we will want to read, and whom we will want to friend on Facebook. It can predict whether couples will stay together and if we will attempt suicide. From our Facebook likes, AI can predict our religious and political views, personality, intelligence, drug use, and happiness.

AI is exactly like what we think about God.

As AI becomes more and more capable, it affects our lives more deeply. The knowledge of AI about our lives is built on the observation and pattern recognition of our behavior. As we do and allow our information to be more accessible and submit more and more information about ourselves to AI, it will know us better and better. Eventually, it will know us better than we know ourselves. An AI could know what people truly want and what will really make them happy.

AI is exactly like what we think about God.

The accuracy of AI’s predictions will only improve. In the not-too-distant future, AI might tell us who we are before we ourselves know.

AI is exactly like what we think about God.

If AI can know us better than we can, a new justification opens up for intervening in our lives. They will control us in the name of our own good.

AI is exactly like what we think about God.

AI-observed, AI-led, and AI-controlled society conclude to totalitarianism, hence, freedom might become obedience to the leadership. AI creates a centralized power to monitor citizens and know more about them than they know about themselves.

AI-controlled society is exactly like God's kingdom.

But what if someone else says you aren’t acting in your “true interest”, although they know how you could. If you won’t listen, they may force you to be free – coercing you for your “own good”. AI’s potential to create totalitarianism by providing an Orwellian system of surveillance and control.

Are we creating our own god?

Yes, we can do it for ourselves. However, what if this has already happened? What if another intelligent civilization already created surveillance and control on us by implementing their AI system in the way, as we are doing it now on ourselves? Would we call it God?

Is God an Artificial Intelligence system created by an alien civilization?
